# Balance & billing

The account has one prepaid USD balance. Key spending limits constrain consumption; they are not separate wallets. Display available, held, and settled amounts distinctly. Store currency in integer microdollars or exact decimals, never binary floating-point.

The approved trial is $0.20 in promotional credit, valid for 7 days. It is separate from paid funds and is not cash. The server enforces eligibility and one-time granting. Verify your email and complete the challenge; grant expiry is enforced independently from paid funds.

Before accepting work, reserve sufficient account funds and key allowance atomically. At completion settle the actual amount and release the difference. Failures with no billable usage release the hold. Unknown supplier outcomes stay under reconciliation rather than creating a second charge. A timeout or stopping a stream does not establish zero usage.

Payblis and NOWPayments are the only checkout providers in scope. Configured payment channels create hosted checkout orders; missing credentials return an unavailable state. A success redirect never credits an account. Verified callbacks and independent reconciliation must check currency, amount, provider reference, and order identity before a unique ledger entry is posted.

Implemented order states are `creating`, `pending`, `confirming`, `paid`, `underpaid`, `expired`, and `failed`. Partial payments remain `underpaid` until confirmed as fully paid. A refund API and automated refund processing are not implemented in this release. Any future refund must append compensating ledger entries rather than rewrite historical transactions.

## Trial eligibility and spending order

Verify the account email and complete the verification challenge before claiming the $0.20 grant. Claiming is idempotent and rate limited. The grant expires exactly 7 days after issuance; eligible promotional funds are used before paid funds. Trial requests use the same effective price and key/account limits. Holds preserve funding-source attribution. If a hold is released after the grant expires, its promotional portion returns to expired promotional balance, not spendable paid balance. Expiry never removes paid money. Financial ledger history is permanent and independent of 30-day request logs.
